I LIKE SHORT SONGS - ZAPPAMIX

Following on from the full-blown 'I Like Short Songs' mix (posted earlier)
comes the next in a sure-to-continue-sporadically series of mixes following the theme.
The track length was extended out to a lengthy 2:30 for this one. I've stuck to tracks from the 6 or 7 albums that I have. That still provided plenty of variety with Frank's multitude of sonic stylings all represented and a fair spread of bona fide classics buried in amongst it all. Tracklist included if you want to keep up with the proceedings.

320 kbps. 50 tracks. 55:14.

ENOMIX

Pretty self-explanatory this one. A load of Eno tracks from the 70's and 80's
(and a splash of 90's) lobbed together in the customary Gash style. Shortly after I did it
I saw the DJ Food 'Funky Eno Mix' on Soundcloud. I'd certainly recommend that to Eno fans as well. link here

320kbps. 35 tracks. 1:09:53.

IMAGINATION CAME INTO MY BRAIN

JOHN GOODALL - IMAGINATION CAME INTO MY BRAIN

John's an old colleague of mine from way back who emigrated to New Zealand at the end of the nineties. I hooked up with him again through Facebook so I asked John sometime towards the end of 2009 if he wanted to make a mix for the blog. Sure enough, he sweated away at the height of the Antipodean summer and he delivered the goods during January this year. Finally after a (by now) standard AA delay here it is for your download enjoyment.

John DJs in Wellington on a local radio station - Radio Active 89FM. The show is called The Soul Affair (every Sunday night 9pm-11pm) and as you'd expect treats listeners to sack load of premium quality soul, funk and the like. He's part of the Soul Affair Collective (with 4 others) and they rotate the show each week. You can also check out his Soul Affair blog with posts of his shows available to download.

John's musical interests reach out far wider than that so it was no problem to produce a mix in keeping with the Amateur Athletics principles. Fact fans will note that his excellent feature-length mix is named after a lyric from the Scorpions track - tasty.

Here's John's nice tracklist with annotations!

320kbps. 80 mins. 191MB.

EASTER BUNFIGHT

EASTER BUNFIGHT MIX - GOOD FRIDAY 2010

A nicely weird beard mix-up for Easter. It's not especially Easter-like
(there's no religious ho-ha for a start) although there are a couple of brief moments to justify the theme. I haven't had time to sort out a tracklist for this one. It may follow, it may not.
It's abstract electronic stuff largely with a few library grooves thrown in. Amongst others there's Richard Pinhas, Monty Python, Pierre Arvay, George Harrison, Omar Khorshid, William Basinski, Moebius and Robin Gibb!
